Also was wondering about the, I think it's called Track Bar, attached to the drivers side of the front axle. Was a PITA to get the new 3" lift springs on with that thing, and it's seriously got to limit travel, do people remove that? Or is it essential to have so the axle stays centered?

That is the torque rod, on the stock steering set up it is somewhat important as it both protects the steering draglink and it also prevents the front axle from rolling forward under heavy braking and having that impart a pull to one side into the steering. To make the torque rod easier to install/remove, you can install a bracket on the bottom end to raise that end of the bar to match the lift, or you can install an adjustable rod or modify your own to be adjustable and/or lengthen it to fit:

Thanks for the Link Roger. I found some similar info while googling yesterday. I dug out the instructions from my lift and it states to continue using the torque rod for the 3 and 5 inch lift, but ditch it for their 7. Don't anticipate going with a 7 inch lift anytime soon. Although I think I will take off the sway bar today and see how it handles without it.

I guess I will just leave the thing on. I use the truck to haul molds for sculpture and similar stuff. Thanks for the input. I was just worried that if I took it off it would throw me off the road on corners.

Don't remove the track rod! A guy around here removed it when he put a six inch lift and 35s on his '83. He was on the highway and slammed on the brakes at 65 to avoid a deer. The results were bent front springs and a minor collision with a concrete divider. When the axle wrapped it wasn't a good combination with the push pull steering.
