Deregulation will only work if we are willing to to allow the market to shake out those who make bad choices. IE, if we don't regulate lenders, & some make risky loans, those lenders should be allowed to go out of business (leaving only lenders smart enough to make quality loans) & those who took out those loans should be allowed to lose their secured property.

The problem with that is the value of *everyone's* property decreases when the market gets flooded with repo's, so we all have to suffer in order to allow lenders to work unregulated.

So while for the most part I want my government to stay out of everyone's business, in some cases, certain businesses have proven themselves to not be good citizens when allowed to function without oversight.
