well we are now to upgrade the tj to a set of 36 like the cj i just got my only concern is that the 35 in the rear wont hold it. the jeep is a dd. i know i can put a better rear end in it to help, but was wandering if i could go with a set of stronger axles and a locker to buff the rear end up a bit.. i was lookin at the super 35 with the locker for a little over 1k but was wandering if there was something else i could do to save money. the jeep is the 5spd 4.0 wrangler sport if you needed to know.thanks in advance

better to look for a different axle than that 35. a dana 44 would be ideal. put a locker in that & a set of 4.10 gears front & rear & i think you would be doing good. but, it depends on the type of off-roading you plan on doing. at any rate lose the 35. its not worth the money to put in the super 35 kit. for that money you can beef up a better axle.

If you want to run the 36's on that axle....get the upgraded shafts (still a waste of money in my opinon), but do NOT get a locker. Adding a locker will just put you right back where you are with the stock shafts, except that the damage that COULD be caused will be more expensive...i.e. exploding your locker, aftermarket shafts, etc.

Run the 36's with an open diff, and when that axle fails, upgrade to a 44.

Call around to some junk yards to see if they have any Jeeps that have been wrecked in just the front. If you have no luck with that, then just ask if they have any Jeeps at all, and if they know what axles are underneath them.

try craigslist.com for decent deals & ebay is usually good here & there. junk yards are a strecth here in florida but may be better elsewhere. you should be able to find a 44 that will fit easily . try google too LOL you never know.

I wouldn't try either 35s or 36s on that D35. Don't spend the money trying to build it up. Go with either a D44 or a Ford 8.8.

yeah. i use to have an 8.8 in the explorer but that was before i i had the jeep.seeing how i dont exactly the moneyu to buy a 44 right now unless i come across one for a reasonable deal i will probably go with the 34x10.50 ltbs.theyre only a few lbs heavier.plus that gets me almost another inch out of it. i am planning on lockin the rear. would it be safe to do so with the 34's. i dont really do that hardcore of offroad seeing how theres is nothing close around to really go to. big rock closed down, badlands is 3-4 hours away. if theres anymore info let me know.

Iwouldn't spend the mpney on a locker for a D35. Save up a few more bucks and get a 8.8 in there.

take your time & keep pocketing cash keep an eye on sites like ebay & craigslist . you can find a good 44 or 8.8 on there at a decent price. save your $ & dont lock up that 35.
