Yep, that's when it will happen...when your taking out the trash. You better get to the range, ( backyard) and develop some reflexes. Does it have a safety or is like the Glocks. Nothing like pulling the trigger against the safety when it counts....not that i've ever done that cough cough

LDA- check out the vid on www.para-usa.com

Yep, very aware that I need some range time; just don't want to spend most of it with crappy ammo.

break in with cheap factory box ammo. heck even cheap reloads will do.

but once you are using the firearm for home defense, buy the best stuff out there.

federal hydroshoks are still my fav.

plus an article i read says, if you have DO HAVE TO USE it for self defense, the last thing you need is the DA grilling you on the stand and asking why you decide to use your own ammo that you loaded with super duper "hot" loads...

best to be "caught" with factory HD loads. the erticle went on to say to save the last few rounds of the box, including the box itself, in case it does go to trial...

I don't think she will have a DA problem, more like a Fish and Game issue

In Kaifornia you can't hunt with anything less than 6 inch barrel

Well in that case just get a Cassul(sp?) 454.

Hey Jake97T
I have a Kimber Custom II .45, and have put MANY rounds through it, probably about 2000 or so in a few years. Mine stove pipes about every 50 rounds, but after 2000 rounds it is time for a new spring. When cleaning it, pulling the spring out reveals it to be a little warped. Maybe you should try replacing the spring on your current .45. Also getting a match grade barrel for a .45 I have heard helps it to not jam quite so much.

Watch how often you rechamber a round. After a few rechamberings, use it for target practice. From what I read: Many guns push the bullet a little bit into the case when you chamber them. Do it enough times and the pressure can go quite high when fired.

A friend has cheap rounds for the firing range, and quality expensive ones for self defense. When he has a failure at the range, he tries to clear it as fast as possible without thining and continue shooting. He uses the good stuff precisely because it doesn't jam in his gun.

that's why i average 6 months per box of HD ammo.

any longer, they get used at the range for practice.

then i just a buy a new box... a fresh box.

I like the 180 grain for break in. I use federal ball at the range reloaded. We aren't technically allowed to defend ourselves in Canada, but I have 165 grain semi jacketed for a rainy day.

Ya, we got a notice to that affect at work the other day. Apparently a few duty Glocks have gone kaboom and they attribute that to the bullet being pushed into far from constant rechambering.

Thing is...I'm still confused why the weakspot in the bullet would go from where the bullet normally exits, to the back of the case and down through the barrel and frame, where splits the steel bullet chamber and poly frame.
