ok, now I'm sure everyone's sick of hearing about my truck.. but I have another question. lol...I have a 22re fuel injected 4 cylinder.. that I blew the motor out of.. what can I do to get more power out of it?? This summer I am planning on buying a used block and rebuilding it to throw in there.... I want to get a cam, headers, and a k&n air filter.. not sure if I want to do a cold air intake or not.. is it possible to put a snorkel on a cold air intake? I was also contemplating putting in over sized valves... is there any good places to order these parts??? Also any other ideas to add power.. Thank again, Anthony

Your best bet is to get an engine that is factory EFI. some of the carb blocks(blocks pre-efi option) don't have a pre-drilled hole for the knock sensor. Other than that the blocks are the same.
As mentioned in other posts I would bore the cyls. .020-.040 over, enlarge the valves, run a performance cam, header, and open up the exhaust/intake systems. Enginebuilder can give you all of the info you need on building a performance based/reliable 22re.
Yes you can run a cold air intake system off of a snorkel, yet you shouldn't run a snorkel for daily use. You really want your air intake system to be as short and straight as possible, a snorkel doesn't really allow for this. A snorkel system on your engine is like you breathing through a straw. If you are going to run a snorkel, design your cold air intake w/two inlets, one to the snorkel for water x-ings, and a short one for daily use

How do you over bore?? do u need over sized rings?? I would think so.. is over boring hard???? I would drop the head off at a local place and have them put over sized valves in it for sure.

Depends on where you're at. It's around $1500+ here. Get in your local phone book and call the locals. ALSO- ask what their warranty is on their work. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

IIRC, larger rings and pistons cost the same through engine builder, so the added cost to the rebuild is what the machine shop will charge. Having the block bored shouldn't be all that much, it is easier to do than the head.
The $1500 in AK seems a bit high, but then again it is AK, the shops there kind of have you over a barrel.
