So, my parts are FINALLY in at mitsu (int/exh studs & nuts, thermostat, intake gasket and a freeze plug) after almost 3 months. gotta love living in canada and driving a dinosaur.

So, anyway, i'm hoping this sunday to install my clearwater head, arp studs, & mls gasket and replace that freeze plug to finally finish the top end of my crazy g54b. i haven't driven the panty raider since oct 1 and seeing it out front of my house everyday, it looks sorta...lonely.

Since it's been a while from the last time i worked on it, i thought i'd make a checklist of stuff to buy so i don't end up needing something at the last minute. if anyone has anything to add, please let me know.

Fluids
- Oil, filter, coolant, beer
Lubrication etc
- Gasket cleaner, locktite, RTV

Am i missing anything? somehow i feel like i should have more stuff. thanks in advance

I just did it.......pb blaster, digital camera, colored zip ties or some other method of marking the vac lines that wont rub off! Torque wrench, water pump, new thermostat, fuel filter. BE CAREFUL WITH THE THERMOVALVE!!!! I learned the hard way I have a bunch of locking manifold nuts if you need extra, I bought a bag of 100 cause it was cheaper to do that than spend 89cents a nut. Good luck....Im still not done yet!

Cool, thanks bud! i run a weber, so no vacuum lines under my hood, when i did the bottom end, everything, and i mean, everything from oil pump to bolts was new. My project ran out of time at the zero hour last year and i cheaped out on a wrecker head instead of waiting to get a clearwater shipped up, i paid for it when i overheated last year and cracked the head to high heaven.

Good luck to you too bro!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just finished my Monte a week ago...still dialing in the carb...G54B

Leaving the engine in the truck I cleaned my block deck, piston tops, block front, and oil pan. I pressure washed the block. I replaced the alternator, distributor, ex. manifold, carb, starter, oil pump, water pump, jet valve head, engine mounts, fuel pump, timing chains, master cylinder, booster and rear brakes. I cleaned my intake, timing cover, and brackets. Painted bare metal I cleaned except for the block. Replaced all stock fastners with stainless. I live on the coast and my old fastners were all rusted together.

Replaced jet valve head with non jet Clearwater head.
Replaced Weber 32/36 with 38 Outlaw.
Replaced stock ex. manifold with Pace Setter. (Only header I could find.)

Haven't replaced my coil yet tho I have a new one. Havent made a block off plate for the EGR valve (Corked for now ) Haven't cleaned my valve cover. Haven't done my front brakes. Need new tires...

I took a ton of before and after pics. Feel free to look under my Montero section.

She has a lot more pep in her step.
