Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 95 LESC and spend a lot of time reading Previa forums. Here are some pointers that may be helpful.

A similar problem is discussed in the following thread:

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/previa/message/30808

If you need the wiring diagrams, the Yahoo Previa group has the 96 FSM posted in the Files section which may or may not help with a 92.

http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/previa/files/96%20Previa%20Factory%20Service%20Manual/

Another good resource is the Previa Technical Discussion forum on http://toyotavans.net/forum/

I think others on here are right, it is a bad ground.

Good luck!

12.35 is kinda low, I predict a new battery will be needed next winter.

11.30 is a lot of voltage drop. I agree with the folks saying check *all* grounds, also unplug & check any connectors you can get to.

Pay extra attention to the circuits feeding the tail light relay, if it's buzzing, it isn't getting enough current to pull the switch fully.

Dave

Battery is a day old and one volt drop from one end of a big vehicle to another doesnt seem like much to me and 11.3 is will make a bulb light.

There are only two ground points from the battery (and I added a 3rd yesterday), one to the alternator case and another to an engine mount in the middle of the vehicle. I'll try to get a resistance read thru the cables and volt readings from the various connectors.

Thanks guys I'll check out a couple of those Previa groups (ToyotaNation dot something has yet to elicit a response)

If your problem is still occurring AFTER you've disconnected the wiring to the brake switch, then it isn't the brake switch. Maybe look for a wire that is getting rubbed by part of the mechanism of the brake pedal. Could be that it's getting grounded when you push the pedal against it. Get up in there with a bright light and move the pedal, maybe even take the spring off so you can move it easily. I had a friend that had an oil leak inside his car. We could not figure out where it was coming from. Turned out a wire had shorted and burned through the plastic oil pressure guage tube. Point of the story is look for something that may be totally unrelated..

I missed that, it's still low, should be closer to 13V than 12. What is the voltage at the battery when thwe engine's running?

It is a lot, should be only a tenth or two. A 9% voltage drop will cause somewhere around a 20-25% drop in candlepower.

Pretty sure it's not the battery ground at this point, you need to start checking the grounds on all the affected devices. Don't overlook the dash panel, I had a Subaru with a bad ground at the dash that caused such an array of malfunctions that I didn't know where to start looking....

For whats its worth I figured it out. Had to get PO'd walk away and have a beer. Went back fresh like I hadn't done a thing. Dawned on me why the relays were chattering and why any more than one accessory running cause d everything to drop out.

Took a volt reads at a couple relays under the dashboard hood (remember this is a Previa we're talking about )

7-8volts at best. An electrician buddy stopped by to help think it thru. We got to tugging on the Positive battery cable (which had already been inspected) and noticed the bulbs dimmed and a relay started ticking. Took the battery/alternator harness out, completely unwrapped it etc. Followed the path of the primary alternator output wire and noticed it fed back into the main body harness (after a slice or two) at plug connector. Movement of that plug connector seemed to trigger the trouble. The male end of the plug looked a little wet and crusty which is odd for a weather-proof Toyota termainal. The female primary wire contact looked burnt and after I picked at to clean it a little half of it fell out.

To make a an already long story shorter...I bypassed that plug connector by digging into the body harness and splicing in a fresh piece of #8 THHN stranded. Shrank and taped her all back up and viola!

The door locks work like acharm (they had been spotty) windows fly up and down and my kids are happy. Getting rides with their mother to school was cramping their style.

Thanks to all that pitched in!

What does SHE drive, if the Previa does NOT cramp their style?

No sh--. I was going to address that. She (my ex) drives a dime-a-dozen panty hose colored 97 camry. Theres only one Previa on the high school lot (affectionitely called "Shamu") and is the ride of choice for the drama club and swim team Taco Bell runs.

I think its more about the freedom from mother than the ride, although they like rollin up in dear ol' Dad's 4Runner with the tunes cranked

Gotcha, I got a 15 year old, and the same 99 Camry commuter.
Either 4Runner, but not the Camry. I get his drift though.
