Hello people!

The diesel prices here have been rising non-stop! Last week, for the first time in history, diesel was more expensive than gas. This week the pices have gone down a bit, but stil, very expensive.

Diesel here is right now ~$1.15/l. Because of this I've been trying to drive as fuel efficiently as possible, and I've managed to achieve over 9km/l with the last 4 tanks. This is 100% city driving; my historical fuel consumption average was 8.3km/l (mixed driving).

So I'm curious as how much fuel costs in your region and what fuel consumtion are you getting.

Fuel prices here are $1.18/L. much higher than gasoline which is $1.08/L. it costs me almost $100 to fill up. I am getting about 9km/L aswell with city driving. its definitly expensive to drive now-a-days.

I've been running about 10- 10.5 l/100km ( SWB model) It's been running minus 20 celsius temperatures so we idle a lot to warm up plus a lot of time gets spent in traffic jams. Diesel here is running $1.25 a liter lately- about 18 cents more tham low octane gas, 7 cents nore than higher octane gas. The difference all lies in government taxation (taxes are the highest cost element of fuel in Canada) and for some reason although it costs less to refine diesel it always costs more than gas at least here in Ontario Canada.

It's just over 2 USD for the litre over here, so please send donations so I can get out to play.

Diesel has cost more than gasoline all winter here, currently running at $1.30/L while gasoline remains at 1.16/L. Doesn't the price of diesel usually fall in the summer as opposed to gasoline's rise? I'm getting the best mileage I have ever got since I bought the truck at 10.3L/100km highway driving (I seem to get sightly better mileage in the city, probably due to the low, low gearing of the Paj). In February my mileage dropped to over 13L/100km but I seemed to have corrected that by fitting larger tires (32") to drop my cruising RPM to about 2900 (before with 29" tires I was cruising at 3300RPM!), cleaning out the EGR and intercooler and getting an alignment adjustment done. I'm also running cold tire pressures that are little higher at 34 PSI for highway driving.

I see the writing on the wall though and I think I'm going to start up bio production this summer. If there is any sort of foreign crisis the price of oil is going take off. I wouldnt be completely surprised to see prices hit 1.65 - 1.70/L this summer and at that price I can no longer afford to drive period. I've been running %100 bio periodically from the pump and the Pajero seems pretty happy on it.

Diesel is also rising because demand is going up at this time, depending on where you live. In Alberta, I think we still have a couple of refineries running at low capacity for maintenance or fires, and my brother who works at the heavy oil upgrader pointed out that farming is starting up and the farmers are buying a lot of fuel.

It seems to me we get a few months of diesel costing more than gas, then a few where it's lower.

As long as I'm driving this vehicle that is paid for, and gets twice the mileage my YJ did, I'm happy.

The shorty gets me about 400 km these days, and takes about 42L to top back up. 60L tank, but my commute is long, and I don't wanna end up in the middle of nowhere with no fuel.

Buying the bike is making more sense every day, these days... I'll start commuting on it soon.

Paid $1.23/L yesterday. Then you have to put in an additive to offset the ULSD...

Holy c**p! And I tought fuel was expensive here! Still, over $1/l is very, very expensive, considering the low average income in my country.

Diesel fuel has always been cheap here, I remember a time when it was like half the price of gas. Those times are over...

Last year there was a biodiesel pump in town, but apparently went out of business, don't know why. They would be making good money right now.

Diesel here has been more than regular gas for a long, long time..... about 25% more per gallon. Four dollars a gallon for diesel, so roughly 1.06 USD per liter. In the pickup I get between 25 and 27 mpg, so I think that's around 11 or 12 kilometers per liter. Not too shabby, but still more expensive to drive than my Corolla that blew up a couple of months ago.
