Here in Queensland we pay 1.28USD per liter (150.9AUD). I filled up this morning and got 10.41L/100K. I have a 92 liter tank. It's running about $110AUD week for normal driving chores. Diesel here has been more expensive than petrol for over a year. There's supposed to be a government subsidy, but it's stolen by Caltex and Shell(no real competition - QLD government just wrings their hands). The price on petrol varies 12-13 cents liter between Tuesday and Saturday. The oil companies call it the "normal weekly cycle". It's the normal weekly ripoff. The government says they are studying the matter. Diesel prices are stable, but steadily rising. There is an excise tax plus a VAT (tax on tax). I don't expect the government to cut off any revenue.
