Thought I'd start a Build thread for my Raider. It started innocently enough... I was going to lift it 2" with shackles in the rear and crank the Torsion bars, then put some 33X10.5 TSL radials on it. After discussing the situation with some friends and co-workers, I am now up to an 8-10" lift, Dana 44/Ford 9" front and rear axles, Radius arms and Coils front, Leaf springs or possibly coil overs in rear, and 33x13.5 LTB's. Motor and trans are going too, not sure what's replacing them yet. The best part is that this has to be done by the first weekend of June.

With that many mods why are you sticking w/ 33" tires??

Also, you can do 33's easily/comfortably on the trails with either a 2.6 Turbo or 4.3L swap. Both are well documented on here.

Wow !!

Ambitious plans with tight deadline!

Actually, with all those mods, why not start out with a SAS Toyota in the first place?

But, sounds like fun!

...and keep us posted. Of course, pictures are worth 1000's of words!

Why? Just put on some 33's and go wheeling. What I'm getting at is why do you need to put so much effort, time and $$$ into a old truck? I understand the "I need a project" but you have a deadline which means something that is not explained.

Come on tell us the real story

For starters, the deadline is a trip to Trussel off road park in Sault Ste Marie the first weekend in June. The D44/9" combo I am getting from a friend for cheap, and the 33's are used, and are just temporary until I can afford the 36" Iroks that I'm making room for. My goal is to be able to flex on the hood of my parts raider by fall. I'm measuring and planning this week, and working on getting parts together. Hopefully I'll be ready to get the torches out soon.

It'll be long gone by then. Either going 4.3 or small block.

Axle is out of a ford bronco, comes with radius arms and bronco coils. May go with a different set up later but I'm going to try to make it work for now.
