Hello, My 1989 Raider 3.0 V6 has been running incredibly well. Though this evening I left my job and started up my raider, it ran fine as always. Drove to my GF house wait for her for 5 mins, truck was still idling well. As we left, i pulled into reverse and as I let go the gas the truck stalled out, Turned it on put in 1 st and left down the block came to a stop hit the clutch and at idle the truck stalled. I thought ok i might be out of gas, since my gas gauge is incredibly inaccurate. Though as I turn on the truck even with the clutch press or in neutral, the truck stalls at idling. Though when you press on the gas pedal the engine will run fine. I was able to pull on to the highway change into gears, down shift. Its only when my car sits at idle below a thousand rpm. Cause it usually idles around 600 to 500 rpm. I was wondering if it had to do with my previous repair that was made this week. I had a new Master/slave cylinder replaced, by a local mechanic.

I was thinking dirty fuel injectors, maybe some sea foam down the tank?

Check for vacuum hoses that may have been disconnected when the master cylinder was replaced. It sounds like you may have an IAC that is on its way out... check the resistance of the coils as specified in the FSM and/or disconnect it and see if the stalling goes away. If it runs good at anything other than idle I doubt your injectors are a problem. Take a look also at the distributor rotor and inside of the cap. A long shot, but I had a problem with mine where the rotor was cracked and providing a low-resistance path to ground. It would idle, but cough and try to stall when I gave it gas, but would eventually catch and then run fine... until the next red light <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Good luck!

Getting the Wheeling Fever
My 90 V6 3.0 did the same thing. Unless you kept a toe on the gas pedal it would die. Culprit was a dirty Throttle Body. Removed and cleaned the throttle body problem solved. Ok...I lied I used the redneck fix of spraying the *$&# out of it with carb cleaner (had 2 hours till I had to leave on a 400mile trip to my grandmother's funeral).

No, those are just my heritage badges. The 240D has at least 790k Though. The engine died in 2005, just the timing chain broke is the only problem. An I have recently sold the car as a parts car to someone who can I trust of giving it a good retirement. Not the junkers!

BTW after replacing the Mass air flow sensor with a used one, just this evening the vehicle start acting up again. I was wondering could the Bosch Platinum plugs have something to do with the engine running so low at idle that it will stall out? I'm about to pull a plug out and check if its foul or not tomorrow evening, and if it is. I'm just gonna replace them with regular champion plugs.
