OK, Just finished installing my "Superlift TruSpeed Speed Sensor Calibrator" Found the VSS wire pretty easy but the part said to install one way and instructions said another. Of course I installed it the wrong way <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Oh well. Took a while to adjust and still needs to be fine tuned but I'm more like 1% off than 16% <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> Will run it a while then calculate it against my GPS. Will take some pictures tomorrow afternoon (got to recharge batteries tonight <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />) It isn't rocket science but need to READ THE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE INSTALLING FIRST <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/baby.gif" alt="" /> I bought it off ebay for about $40 shipped before Christmas I think. Pictures will show clearly the wires that you need to attach to. Almost got a ticket yesterday cause I was watching the speedo and not the GPS. About a 2 cocktail job. Just saw one on EBAY Everet <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

i've checked mine many times and its about 10% off...figured this out with my odometer and mile markers, my odometer says i go about 9/10 of a mile for every mile marker and verified this with the highway radar speed reminders that are posted around in different areas,so u can just do the math and stay under the limit that way...do 22 1/2 ull be at 25, 33=35, 41=45,50=55,63=70 and so on....

Here are the pictures. The VSS wire is Blue with black stripe. I cut the wire and spliced in as you can see the yellow and green wires. The red wire splices into the small green wire with red stripe. It gives power even during cranking. These connectors are under the metal cover where the passengers feet are under the carpet. If you decide to do this, pm me for any questions. Looks pretty straightforward. From what I know of the VSS sensor, it potentially interacts with several systems and can result in lower fuel economy if inaccurate. Let us know if you see any MPG improvement now that you've got it installed.

MPG varies between 21-22 now. Better than the 20 I was getting before. It feels like it has just a little more power... Anyway, it's good to know that your doing 60 when the speedo says 60... Very simple install, even for the electrical challenged. Keep an eye on ebay for these if you're interested. hey everet just keep on eye on those connections...being under the passengers feet they are prone to getting damp and those connectors are notorious for corroding...if you have ever read any alarm or remote start install instructions they specify not to use those particular connectors(quick splice or scotch lock)....i used them anyways on my wifes remote start install in the drivers kick panel and after about a year the parking lights didnt light up when you pressed the button like it was supposed to and sure enough the terminal had corroded when i checked it...best way is to strip a section out of the middle of the harness wire, seperate the section of strand into two and thread the stripped new wire in between them and then wrap it around the section until tight, strip it long enough to wrap it about 4 full times...then lay the new wire parralel to the harness wire and wrap tightly with electrical tape...this should fix any possible problems..thats how i was taught back when i installed stereos and such but of course im still usually in a hurry and take the easy way out with connectors, which usually work fine as long as they dont get damp like behind the dash...just a heads up to anyone working with electrical in these areas

Thanks Lonnie, The taps are for power of a couple of devices. Actually, everything is tucked under the metal protector that goes over the cpu and wiring harness, but it can/does get damp. I soldered the splice into the VSS and heat shrank them.
John, The switch is for a second setting. Let's say you run stock or snow tires. You can set the 2nd setting to match them (or be stock) I don't know if I'd ever use it but a nice feature if you use different tires for wheeling and street. Anyway-if anyone wants to know any more about it, just ask. For $40-50 bucks + 2 cocktails....very well worth it to me. everet did the correct method of soldering the connection. i would never trust a "wrapped wire' connection with just electrical tape.
and yes i also learnt while working as a car audio installer that scotch locks are the devil!

sorry i meant to put other than soldering them, that just isnt usually an option when your installing stereos for a living...i know thats the best option but if you arent soldering than go with what i said, but try to solder
