Yep, the internet is great, but sometimes you get conflicting information. I saw that link before posting originally, and it's what got me wondering. Except for the pads that recommend 400-500 miles of gentle braking, every other pad recommendation is dramatically different.

Those alternate methods seem to be mostly on the high performance type of pad, so the conservative approach is probably best for standard pads.
