Hello ipdesign,

Firstly welcome to the wire! To my knowledge, since I've been here (which isn't long) I don't think VW diesel swaps have been discussed. If you do a quick search for +4.3 & +swap, you will come up with one of the two more 'popular' engine swap choices. If you look a few posts down you'll see the ever popular and well read G-Raider Supercharger project. You have the highly sought after V6 automatic Vintage that most aspire to acquire.

Out of curiousity why are you considering the swap? Fuel mileage? What numbers are you getting now? Perhaps there is another underlying problem that needs to be addressed which results in your poor mileage. Keep in mind you drive a heavy vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick so don't expect too much there.

In the Mitsu diesel forum there is a thread concerning the 4D55t diesel ranger swap into a Raider/Montero/Pajero. To my knowledge you'll be the first to do this swap and consider what kind of money you might be putting into the swap. Not trying to dissuade you, but it might be more economical in buying a gen II diesel. There are a few to be had for under $7k with low miles and shipping shouldn't be too bad to the east coast (was around $1K last time I checked).

Anyway kudos to you for thinking outside of the box and welcome! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> Sorry I wasn't much help on the technical side of things.
