Sorry guys, I know this hippie-golf stuff bores most of you, but I gotta share. Signed up for a league tonite. First time playing anything organized ever (in the DG world, I mean). all the other guys mention how they've been playing over 10 years, one guy for 5 years...I started in August.

I was pretty nervous. They drew cards to pick teams. I drew an Ace. The other ace went to the most hard core guy there. He says we throw first, and for me to go first. I pulled my pink beast out of my bag (ha ha, go ahead), and let it rip. It's a par 4 hole, a little over 400 feet. I put the disc against the pin. EAGLE!!! I was stoked. Played okay up to #9. I was up first. Grabbed the orange beast out of my bag, whipped it hard about 320, dead center chains...ACE!! (or hole in one to you ball-golfers). Damn it was fun getting good/lucky shots off with an audience. I hope we get a bigger turnout next time, and all of them are as cool as these last guys.

Stony thanks to you I know know what those chains are I see planted in the park. At first I thought it was some crazy bird feeder.

It still just kinda throws me for a loop. When I used to play FRISBEE golf weekend after weekend back in the 70s, we called it FRISBEE golf and not DISC golf. The course we regularly played at was the world's first FRISBEE golf course at Arroyo Seco, near the Rose Bowl (at least it had a sign saying so). I'm guessing it's called DISC golf now because FRISBEE is a trademarked name. I would think they'd want the game called FRISBEE for the advertizing.

I was reading through the 2008 budget plan for the City of Placerville. Apparently, they have a park with an old water conveyance ditch that crosses near some part of some hole/fairway. The ditch is no longer in use and the City is budgeting $15K to put up a fence near the ditch so that DG's don't fall in.

I think it's just a 'hazard' and should be treated accordingly, just like the 'rough' but I don't know anything.

Save the money, give it to me so that I can open a Montero wrecking yard.

There's an entire thread about DG related vanity plates. I love to play, but I wouldn't want everyone to KNOW I play. DG kind of reminds me of the fat chick/scoot joke.
