Hi all,

I've torn out my existing wiring harness and am getting ready to put in a painless, non-preterminated, harness on my 83 CJ Scrambler but what I want to make sure of first is that I have all the basic wiring done before I install the harness.

What I mean by basic wiring is all the Grounds from battery to frame and battery to body and any other place there should be grounds. Where and how many of these should I have?

I've never done this before so I could really use some good suggestions.

Thanks in advance,

The battery grounds to the engine block and the engine grounds to the body. A ground cable to the firewall is usual from the head of the engine. You CANNOT have too many grounds from the engine to the body! If in doubt add another one or two.
Make sure the cable surface and the engine or body surface is sanded clean so the grounding can be effective.
Lectricity don't like to pass thru rust, paint or other corruption.

Body Damage is Cool
Might as well use some heavy ga. wire too....2 or 4 guage for the battery and engine grounds.

And while you are doing a non preterminated harness, you should run your wires through the frame. That's what I would have done, but my new harness was pre terminated.

Good luck.
