My truck makes a clicking noise while I turn really sharp to the right? It kinda sounds like a car with a bad c.v. axle. My hubs are not locked in and the bearings don't have any play if you try and shake the wheel up and down.

Probably just the bumpstops. Put a little grease on them and see what it does; they tend to wear.

Ok sounds easy enough I'll try it as soon as I put an engine back in.
Thanks, Brian

I believe kewlynx is referring to your steering stops. They tend to screech on hard turns b/c the little plastic covers they came w/ from the factory wear down after 20 years. Little different than your bump stops.
But if your truck is an 85 or older 4x4 you shouldn't have this problem.

The only ticking(clicking) on my factory sold axle '85 I've ever had is the tire tread rubbing on the springs. Easy fix. For an IFS front end, it's usually the steering stop covers, especially if going up a bump at the same time.

Just because the wheel bearings feel good does not mean they are. I would service them just to make sure.

Hey sorry guys I have a 93 toyota 4x4. I knew he was talking about the steering stops but the more I think about it I don't think that is the problem. I don't have the wheel locked when it makes the clicking noise. The only thing I think it can be are the bearings. I am just going to buy new ones since they are only like $12 each and I have to do my brakes anyway.

Do you have a locker, maybe a LockRight or something similar. They "click" with turning sharp corners. The steering stops sound more like grinding to me.

Nope no locker and it's a 1992 not a 93 that was a typo. It only makes the noise while turning right not left.

When my made noise like that it was from the wheel shroud plastic. It had broken loose just enough to rub against the out edge of the tire tread.
On a side note, I do get a single clunk once in a while when turning and compressing the wheels at the same time. It was explained to me as a bad "half-shaft", I didn't really trust the guy. It still makes the noise occasionally I never heard of "half-shaft" before so I left it alone.
