well, i went up left hand canyon just out side of boulder today. all was goin good until we decided to head home. we'd been seein dirt bikers runnin up and down the trails all day, actin really reckless. i was leadin two other trucks back down the trail, and i came around a corner just in time to see one starin at the grill of my truck. i turned to miss him, he kept comin. i high centered on the edge of the trail, which was on about a 50-55 degree incline. when my buddie tried to pull me off, i started to nose down hill. that was the closest to rolling over ive ever come. i mean, what happened to proper trail courtesy? if i would have gone over, how do would they have felt? people need to learn how to act and not to act on the trail...and thats my rant for the month...

here's a crappy cell phone picture taken by my brother...

I hate sayin' it, but if they're on 2 wheels and you're on 4, let 'em eat it. That coming from someone who rides. If you can't see ahead, it's throttle off time; simple.

I doubt they'd be the good samaritans and check on you if they saw you'd gone over.

My boss was just down at Arctic Man last week. Sno gos kept running thru their campsite, even after they set up somewhat of a barricade, they'd knock it down and flip them off while they rode thru. Finally, he got one guy stopped; guy stripped off his gloves wanting to fight him.

Boss said 'screw this' and packed his stuff and came back to town. This is after 20 years of going to the SAME SPOT, every spring. Bunch of around here now; driving on the road shows it too. Sucks.

How fast were you going that you got that far off the road??

On the other hand, I speak from experience that few things in life bring out the idiot in you like a dirtbike. I'm VERY in touch with my inner idiot.

i wasn't going very fast at all. the bank right there is very soft, so once i got the front right tire on it, it just let go. the only thing that kept me up on the road was the tranny crossmember caught on a stump. i feel pretty lucky...

Glad your OK but like they say, ALMOST only counts in horse shoes and hand granades Just kidding !

I see the same crazies at Pismo Beach, going all out in a mixed 4x4, ATV, Cycle environment. We always post a 4x4 up on top of the dune with CB to give the all clear. On a good weekend they will airlift or EMT about 4-8 people. They are most always ATV drivers.

Roll Me Over
I used to be very courteous to the 2 wheelers, even when they acted like they owned the trail, I would still pull over and let them by. However after years of getting just as many glaring looks as thanks, and after a similar situation to yours(I was yielding to 2 quads) about 6yrs ago, I don't even bother to pull over or stop when I see them coming anymore. I look at it this way I am bigger and they are more agile so they don't yield the right of way to me they are going to get hurt, both in body and wallet

EXACTLY, If I do pull over it will be at MY convenience NOT yours.

BTW, they should wear helmets for a reason. That way they don't get hurt when then run into my bumper.
