Its kinda funny that the 2.6 G54B gas engine, which is a close relative of our 4D56s used a chain. You'd get a tiny bit of chain slap as the guides wore, but there was an adjuster to take that out too.

Timing belts suck when its time to change em, and even more so if you don't. I feel like its a running countdown. I'm currently at "95,400kms till new timing belts!"

I don't think any of us are concerned about the noise...were driving diesels hahaha.

yes phil, the 2.6 sure was a damn good engine. those timing chains never wore out...when I rebuilt my old 2.6 at 270,000km (roughly) the guides still looked like brand new. they weren't even worn down.

Ha, yeah. But a light valvetrain frees up power, RPM, etc.

Reminds me, I really should order my timing kit, minus the belt that I already have.
