We have had the "do not call" registry in OZ for a while now, and still have troublesome companies that get around the laws.

Check the difference between "Market research" and "telemarketing".

Check the minimum size of the marketing company needed to comply with the laws. In Oz the tendancy is to "divide and conquer". Once a company gets to 30 ppl (our max size before compulsory adherence to the laws) they split in two, so they are always able to operate outside the federal legislation.

Religious groups, political parties, registered pollsters, and charities are all excluded over here.

Sum total of the legislation - not one prosecution in 2 years, same amount of telemarketing calls etc..............but the politician's were SEEN to be doing something <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />
