I've noticed some local GenIIs seem higher than normal, but don't seem to be user-modified. Did some GenIIs come with factory 1-2" lift?

Also, why do you only import 2.5 Pajeros, being the 2.8 a better engine? Is that due to parts availability?

When the GennIII came out, I tought all (diesel models) had the 4M41 (3.2DiD) engine. To my surprise, when they arrived here, all had the 4M40 (2.8). You could place a "special" order so you could get the 3.2, but that meant some "special" $$$ too. Now the GenIII.5 has been for sale localy for a while (since a couple months after launch), and it's also available only with the 2.8 engine.

Interestingly, the new L200 comes with various engine options, incluiding the 4D56 and 4M40 but also the new 4D56 and the new 4M41 (both common rail). Why 3.2 in the L200 and not the Montero? Probably because they need to offer something similar to Toyota and Nissan in order to compete in the very profitable pick-up market.

Talking about the L200, I got to ride in a previous generation L200 (2000-2005 model), equipped with a 4D56TDI with VGT. I was amazed by how it pulls away, even tough it has far higher gearing than my Galloper. It did ~120km/h@3000rpm. Can't tell you numbers, but it did feel very quick, I could feel myself pushed back to the seat while accelerating. Sadly, I didn't get the chance to drive it...
