Getting the Wheeling Fever
Still having problem with over drive. If I go on the freeway and drive 4-5 miles at 65mph and slow down over drive will start working until I turn the car off. If return to the car and start driving again no OD. My question is I know based on all the discussions on this topic the most logical problem is electrical but does OD also work off of line preasure or maybe because I am not using Mitsubishi ATF a valve is sticking? At $4 a gallon I hate not having over drive. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

There's a coolant temp switch in the o/d relay coil ground path that won't let it go into o/d until it warms up. If your thermostat is bad (stuck open) or missing it will do what you describe. You can ground the wire at the sensor/switch, replace the t'stat, or replace the sensor/switch (on the water neck, one skinny wire connection. Other one wire sensor is for the gauge. Two wire sensor is for ecu.

First place I would look...

There is a thermal switch on the intake manifold to turn off your overdrive if the engine overheats. Over time the connection on it loosens and it becomes intermitant.

Its a single wire sensor near the thermostat.
