So we towed the '88 Montero out of the desert where it had been sitting for years collecting dust, spiders and rust. Once we made sure the suspension and steering was all connected we filled the tires with air and connected the tow bar. I washed all of the dirt out of the cab and tried to spray off all the spiders once i got it to my house. A few days later i went into my garage and it was webbed to the ground, so i bug bombed the garage and later swept out the Black widows. PA_JERO and LT came over on sunday and connected the 2.4l engine to the tranny and we lowered it into place, they bolted up the tranny and the crossmember while i bolted on the motor mounts and drew up templates for
new mount plates, (PA_JERO had new ones made for a previous swap and a few yeas later we cut them off). While i made BBQ
ribs they ran the wiring and took out the 3.5l's oil cooler.
Thats it for now i'll keep this post updated as we make progress.

Interesting, I just pulled my 88Raider out of storage and up near my 94 Mighty Max 2wd. I intend to swap the 2.4 from my Max into the Raider this summer. The Max will be going through much bigger changes and will no longer need it,s little engine.

Cheers, Charlie

Wait...wait...I can never keep you AZ guys straight!?!

Ok, the long hair (no offense intended <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />) on the left is LT, right?

Isn't the other guy Pa_jero, or something, who broke his G2 in half <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" />

But, isn't that 2 door ol' Eric's rig?

Whatever happened to him? Intelligent guy, but seems like he had an opinion or two that got a raise out of me. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Liked him.

I love the pictures of that AZ bunch. Seems like they swap engines on a whim while they are eating lunch or something.

EDIT: I was in OKC this past week on Classen Blvd and saw a black 4 door G1 on 33's (or 32's?). I thought of Bottom Feeder; didn't he move from AZ to OK? Wasn't his a maroon 4 door though?

I like those older grilles, but not a fan of the chrome edging.

Hey Joe, I have that grille on mine because they are stamped steel. I was always going to buy a big piece of that magnetic stuff to slap over the grille when I do a deep water crossing. Never got around to buying it though. I used Krylon to paint my whole thing including the chrome strips. I think the newer plastic paints would work well.

no that truck was never ericd's mitch it was mine long ago then i sold it to pa_jero. I'm the one with long hair and pa_jero is the other guy, and bottom feeders ride is black so that was him you saw. You don't have to have that chrome trim on there i took it off my grill then sand blasted it and painted it.
