HI. Just curious, what does it sound like? I have a G52 in my 93 that makes a strange noise at low r's and on deceleration. Kind of a whirling, clicking sound.

mine sounds like dragging piece of metal on a slow turning grinding wheel. I dont think its the throw out bearing because it goes away when you put the clutch in and you can only hear it when your in motion. it gets worse the higher the closer you get to 5th gear.

Marlins prices aren't that bad compared to what a friend paid years ago for a benchtop rebuild. You will also have to factor in double shipping costs, or core charge when considering a local rebuild or one of his.
To check the tranny w/o having to deal w/road/drivetrain noise, start up the engine and pt the t-case in neutral, you can then shift through the gears and listen to the tranny.
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

Tranny rebuild at home... if you run into a cost ceiling. The W56 is very similar.
