Interesting. The spacer should probably be used on the top of the spring, not the bottom. The top seat has an ID lip that keeps the spring and spacer from moving around to the top.

I debated that. The spacers didn't fit into the upper seat very well and the top of the spring is flat, not rounded like the bottom, so I decided to try the bottom (as the instructions indicated). I am checking them periodically, and so far so good. If they do slip a little, I can try flipping them around.
