What are you looking to do? How much you looking to spend?
The first year was 1993 and the last year was 1998.
They were pretty much all the same except fer a few things here and there between the years and models. Auto or manual transmission...power package (mirrors, windows, locks) or manual cranks/locks...4WD or 2WD...DX or SR5...extended cab or regular cab...buckets or bench seats...4 cylinder or V6 (3.slow or 3.4).
1998 T-100 Xtra cab SR5 2WD Auto; Roadmaster Active Suspension; Yokohama Geolander HT-S; lowered air dam; full belly pan; 4? diffuser; 11" side skirts; dual transmission coolers; 67% grill blocked; Auto-RX'd; ScanGauge II/Ultra-Gauge

For a T100 I would say get 97-98. I got a 97 base model - keep your eye out for an sr5. Cruise, power windows/mirrors/locks are nice. Hate reaching over to adjust the mirror.
I have been thru the junkyards a few times and the later models seem to be more available. They also got the last of the refinements over the t100 builds. There were only very minor changes for 98.
The last T100's are 10 years old now.

I think 96+ is the best, I have an SR5 with full power everything I have been very happy with besides my own issues with it that I possibly caused. 96+ has the larger V6, the better packages and overall better fit and finish imho.
1996 T100, Mickey Thomson Classics, Bridgestone Dueler AT 265/75/16, custom offroad KC's.

Another thing to consider,'95.5 and up have the obdII. It also has the 3.4l. The later models allow the use of a turbo, others can chime in about that.
There all good (for the most part). Heck, they only made 141 some odd thousand of them. And they were all made in Japan.

Check your state inspection rules. In NY all you need is to have emissions stuff on the vehicle if it is 95 or older. Gotta pass emissions spec if later. Big bucks difference potential.

I love my 1998 T100 SR5, 4WD. I bought it in 2001. The 3.4L engine has been flawless and trouble-free. The only problems I've had were with the two front seatbelts and the steering rod recall--all fixed for free. It's due for a new muffler, but other than tires, battery, oil, etc., I've not had to put a penny of repair into it.
