Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just had the transmission rebuilt and clutch with linkage redone on my 1980 CJ7 Golden Eagle 4 speed manual transmission. When I got it back, i noticed that when I have the clutch pedal pressed, there is a ticking / clanking noise coming from the tranny / clutch setup. As I take my foot off the the clutch, the ticking fades away, but not completely, and I can hear it until I get to about 40 MPH, then it seems to go away. It also makes the noise when I first start the car in neutral, but wont tick in neutral after I drive it for a bit.

I don't know a whole lot about Clutch assembly / setup, so is this a normal sound, or should I have them check it since its under warranty?

Body Damage is Cool
Take it back where you had the work done and have them do it right. It shouldn't be making the noise you describe.

When I first got my Jeep the clutch made a weird sound and there was always a LOT of chatter/shudder. When I finally went to replace the clutch I found the previous owner didn't put in a pilot bushing. No wonder on the noise. Take it back to your shop, like BobRowe said, they should fix it no questions asked.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
Alright, I'll call them tomorrow. But just for a little more info, I dont hear the noise until the car gets warmer. I wont hear the noise for about, 15 miles as I drive to work in the morning.

Thanks for your replies. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
