Need a Spot
Hello, I just bought an 89 Dodge raider V6. Over all it's in pretty good shape. I just ordered a set of KYB shocks for it. I really need info on where to buy replacement gears for the rear differential. I think it's going bad. When ever I take off from a stop and turn right or left there's a terrable vibration from the rear. Any help would be appreciated. [Linked Image]

It looks like you have the limited-slip differential (LSD) rear axle, based upon the presence of headlight washers. What you're feeling is the engaging LSD controlling the wheel spin. If you stomp on the gas, both rear wheels will get power. I can lay about 1 foot of rubber with my 87 Raider 4-cyl. !! I would advise changing the fluids, making sure to add the traction additive to the rear axle. You'll soon grow use to the feeling of turning with the short wheel base and the LSD action. Nice truck and welcome to the Wire!!

THAT is one amazingly clean Raider! Looks like you just drove it off the dealer lot. How about a little history--previous owner, mileage, price paid. We like to hear that stuff here.

If Russell's suggestion doesn't fix it, you can swap it with a junkyard axle. You want to find one that has the LSD. There's an orange sticker on the driver's door jam. Make sure the donor has the same gearing; you can check the data plate under the hood, passenger side front.

If you plan on doing any wheeling, and don't mind modifying it from stock, then it would be a very good idea to put in a rear end from a Gen2 SR. Lots of advantages if you plan on getting it dirty. writeup here

I just remembered--Mitsubishi has special LSD gear oil. Probably better than trying to guess the right mix of regular gear oil and friction modifier. Especially if you want to make sure that's the problem. PN 3775610.

Where be you located? As mentioned, that looks like a really clean truck and I'm curious if it has any rust at all.

Welcome to the wire!
