Getting the Wheeling Fever
I just bought this rig and power washed everything to check for leaks. The only one I found is on the top of the steering box, and I have never messed with power steering at all. I checked the bolt on the top because it looks like the fluid is coming from it, but the bolt is tight.
thanks for any help.
I have a picture of it, but do not know how to post.
Vehicle should show up in sig.

There was a service bulletin years ago about that leak, the dealer has or had a kit to cure the issue.

Update:

checked with the dealership, they of course have no record of this, nor do they have any parts available.
Called NAPA, they have 3 seals to re-seal it, not sure if that will work, nor do I know how to do it.

Any one else have any information, or have an extra gearbox laying around.
Thanks

thanks, is that from a parts store, or mitsubishi, or dodge? Also can I put this in with the gearbox still in the rig?

That's a Mitsu part #. It doesn't cross to a NAPA # in my cross-reference, either. Try your local stealer, or click here

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

Update:

I found out that the bolt or nut in question is a jamb nut that tightens down on the adjustment screw. There may be a gasket or seal under the jamb nut. I wonder if there is pressure under it. I will try to unscrew the jamb nut and see if there is a seal under it.

ok, I removed the jamb (while holding the adjustment screw) and sure enough there was a small amount of fluid leaking from around the adjustment screw, so I put a small gasket that I had over the adjustment screw and put the jamb nut back on. Time will tell now.

btw. you have to hold the adjustment screw as you remove the jamb nut, otherwise this would adjust play into or out of your steering.
