So I was out driving my SAS Trooper the other day and evidently I managed to take out the oil filter with the front axle. It broke off the threads for the oil filter with it when it went. Does anyone know if this part is separate from the oil pump, or do just replace the oil pump and this piece is a part of it?

BTW, the rig WAS driving great until this happened. I don't have the shocks on it yet or the bump stops, and I hit a big construction hole at 45mph! I may make Moab this year.... Will be mounting up the rest of this stuff this weekend.

That piece is just an adapter. It has nothing to do with the oil pump. Just find you another one and replace it, is all you can do.

Chad nailed it -- replace the piece, you've only damaged external parts. I had a similar problem (kept kinking oil filter cans) and ran a shorter filter can for a while, after comparing a bunch of 'em for threads and size (sorry, I don't remember the specs). I ended up cutting and tapping the aluminum bolt-on fixture for the pump and running an external oil filter... that worked grand until the cheap-o hoses that came with the kit crapped out and drained all my oil on the freeway. If you use good hoses, this is the route I recommend.

Get some shocks and bump stops and get to Moab!

Got her fixed up. $20 and three hours later I had it done!

I am trying to post pics, but I am not very good at it....
