Paul - I know you probably need information on the transmission wiring more than on the engine, but I can supply what I've decoded for the 4JB1. Based on my experience, I'd guess that most will match between what I've got and the 4JG2 (if the gas truck colors match the diesel wires, diesel-to-diesel should be a snap!).

I will dig my notes up tomorrow and post the colors if you'd like. School is finally out, so I have some time on my hands.


Hi Adrian, thanks for the offer. I have the engine wires down from the manuals I have. I'm actually just about to to the point where I'm ready to start it up. Just trying to get the transmission sorted first. I have one issue with the alternator, I'll be posting a question on that before too long, but other than that I think it's all set. If I could just get the transmission sorted, I'd be just about ready to roll.

Hey Jerry, any chance you might have some wiring info on this transmission? I'm thinking you might be my last hope on this.

As a side note to that, any ideas on the longevity loss if I just scrap the electronics and use this as a manually operated automatic?

HI PAUL I HAVE THE DIAGRAMS FOR THE 89-91 AW30 80 LE WHICH I THINK IS VERY SIMILIAR TO THE ONE YOU HAVE , BE GLAD TO SEND YOU WHAT I HAVE, DRIVE IT MANUALLY WONT HURT ANYTHING EXCEPT YOU WILL LOOSE 2ND GEAR AND THE CONVERTOR WILL NOT LOCKUP, THERE IS A N EASIER SOLUTION,, GO ON PLANET ISUZU .COM AND SEARCH AROUND A LITTLE BIT AND LOOK FOR POST FROM TAD ON TITLED TRANS SWAP HAS BEGUN, TAD USE THE 4CYL VERSION IN HIS 94 TROOPER WITH A SPECIAL BELLHOUSING I LOCATED FORHIM ALLSO DAN HOLTON ON THIS SITE DID THE SAME THING WITH A 3800 BUICK WITH THE SAME HOUSING AND THE 4CYL TRANS I THINK, THERE IS A STAND ALONE SIMPLE CONTROLLER THAT WILL LET YOU SHIFT THE TRANS UP AND DOWN WITH JUST A COUPLE OF MOMENTARY CONTACT SW,S AND THAT THING SHIFTS GREAT , AFTER ABOTU 10 MIN DRIVIGN SHIFTING BECOMES SECOND NATURE, AND I THINK IT CAN BE MODIFIED TO SHIFT AUTOMATICALLY JERY
