My 87 came with 15x6 rims, 4.375" BS
I changed to 31x10.5's on 15x7's, 3.75" BS
then to 33x12.5's on 15x8's, 3.25" BS
No rubbing on suspension, but bumper plastic end cap needed trimming.

I'm looking at a set of 295/75 R16's (~33.5x11.5) on 16x8's, 4.25" BS to use as hiway tires (to give the 33x12.5's a rest on long high speed runs), and I'm really hoping they have no issues. The inner tire edge will line up with the original tire's inner edge, so it will be close on tight turns.

Hub-centric is of no use to you, as the center hole will be too small to fit the older Mitsu/Toy/etc hubs that we have in Gen1's.
