Resurrecting this old thread in hopes to get some new /current responses.

I'm wanting to change my rins to probably a 16". I was thinking about the ATX / American Racing Chamber series and I think someone posted here about a year or more ago that they used them successfully.

Just wondering what everyone else changed to and how well they work.

I may change my mind and simply powdercoat my stock 15"'s.

How small of an offset can I get away with on a 15x8 rim?

I am looking at 15x8 steel wheels with anywhere from a 2.5 to 3.25 inch backspacing. I don't like the way 3.75" BS on a 15x8 looks. I don't mind my wheels sticking out on the sides. I actually prefer it. If I have to slap on bushwhacker fender flares to keep the fuzz away, I will.

It seems like no one is running these. I understand that there will be more wear on wheel bearings and CV joints, etc.

I know I will not be rubbing on the frame because my wheel will be pushed out compared to the stock 15x6 positive offset wheels. I'm more worried about rubbing my right tire on the outer corner of the fender when at full lock to the left (and vice versa). Has anyone done this? I know people are running 15x10" with 4 inch backspacing, but I think those members are running them with fender / bumper / suspension modifications.

Also, any suggestions for alloys with a 3.25 backspace or smaller on a 15x8 with a center bore big enough to accommodate raider hubs (108mm) are appreciated! I am not married to the idea of steelies, but realize that my application may limit me to them alone.

A 15x8 wheel with 2" BS will position the rim edge similar to a 15x10 with 4" BS, logically. You shouldn't have problems with 31s rubbing anything with the exception of the front bumper rubber edges, possibly.

Flares to cover the exposed tire will be custom, Bushwacker does not make any of their typical flares for the Montero.
