This is for my '89 Trooper with the 2.6 engine.
I have too much oil on the underside of the engine. It bothers me. I looked up from underneath and saw a rather large drop of oil hanging on the bottom side of the distributor. Could this be the source of all the oil on the bottom of the engine and transmission?
I have a vague recollection that there is an "O" ring on the distributor shaft. Presumably if the O ring is damaged it will leak oil. Would there be any other affects? Would it in any way affect how the distributor turns, how the engine runs?
What size O ring do I need to replace this with? Can I get one at Home Depot, or do I need a special automotive quality O ring, one which will hold up to the hot engine oil?
Thanks for any and all replies.

I just put a regular donut o ring from autozone on the dist. shaft and slid it up to the mouting surface. I also used grey rtv sealer on the rubber valve cover gasket. Now she don't leak anymore. This is on my '86 Trooper with the 2.3 engine. Seems that a side mounted distributor would be prone to leaks....
