Wow, thanks for all the replies guys!!!
Richard S., I purchase mine in Temple.
Unfortunately the old girl isn't doing quite as good as I had originally thought, although still nothing too serious.
I just took her in to the Toyota dealer in Round Rock to have the Steering Rod Relay recall done.
Turns out one of my CV boots is completely ripped open and almost bone dry.
Also, both of my valve cover gaskets are leaking pretty good.
Toyota wanted to charge me about $1100 to do the work there. ($400 for upper lower CV boot replacement and $700 for valve cover gaskets)
They did say that beyond that the truck is in amazingly good shape...
I turned down the repairs...
My question now is, how difficult are these to do myself?
I am a fairly adept shade-tree mechanic. Over the last 6.5yrs that I have had this truck I have replaced the:
Alternator (3x, she really likes cheap alternators...) Timing Belt (3x, long story. thank god for valve clearance!) Water Pump (1x) Thermostat (1x) Rear Exhaust (1x) Clutch (1x) A\C Blower Fan (1x) POTS Valve (1X) Power Steering Pump (1x) Stereo (1x)
and a few other little things that I can't think of right now...
Also, has anyone ever replaced a headliner before? If so, how difficult is it to do myself and how much should I expect to pay to have someone do it for me?

I can't say a lot about the 6-bangers, but I'm shocked at the valve cover repair cost. Somehow that doesn't seem right, but then again, I haven't tried to do one. Maybe something difficult I don't know about. I do know that with some good shop tools, patience, and a good FSM, you can accomplish a great deal yourself. There are plenty of FSM's online, free of charge, including the second thread posted in the Index here. Download it and look at the valve cover removal under the Engine Mechanical section and see what you think. From your R&R list, I'd say you are on target with most of us. Remember also that you are just a click away from a lot of experienced help here as well. Post a pic, ask a question. Seems to me that many of the posters have a lot of experience with the DIY techniques and know a lot of the tricks.

If so, how difficult is it to do myself and how much should I expect to pay to have someone do it for me? $700 for the valve cover gaskets?!?!?! my shop only charges $350 for a 3.0 and $300 for the 3.4! their really screwin ya if they want to do that. the valve cover gaskets are moderate, but with your experience, probably not to hard. the main thing you have to look out for is making sure you get the vacuum lines on the passenger side in the correct place. the last time i pulled the plenum, i mixed up the power steering idle up line and the fuel return line, so i was basically dumping all the fuel that was supposed to be going back to the tank was going into the back three runners...lets just say that it flooded the motor so bad that the cat didnt burn the fuel, it boiled it...
