You'll be only a few miles from Jay Ayala's (near Hillsboro) place.

The offroad pass (you will need one) is usually available at stores in the Tillamook area, or even the Govt office in Tillamook. You will need a flag on the dunes and a readily available fire extinguisher to qualify (if I remember), my ORV pass just expired, they (used to) last 3 years. Check the Gov't website for the exact details. I have only met the patrols 2x, and both were on the dunes at Sand Lake which gets crowded on summer weekends.

The Tillamook area is the "Brown's Camp" I referred to.
Hands down the best ORV park I've ever played in!
Get the map, and go with a local. It's a LARGE area with criss-crossing roads and trails. A GPS can really help you to avoid getting lost.

Then just down the road is Tillamook, the town, and a few miles south of that is "Sand Lake", a very good dunes/beach playground.

You've landed in a very nice area to be looking for family-type 4x4 fun. I've been to both 3x over the years, and always enjoy going back.

Of course, get down to Florence, and the whole Oregon Dunes playgrounds will keep you distracted even more! The campgrounds in Oregon are very nice, too. Honeyman Park is convenient to the dunes...
