I've had the same problem with my 98. The only setting that worked was to put the fan in position 4 and it would work.

Try that.

If so the resister has melted the contacts and just needs to be resoldered onto the contact pads. Easy job to fix. No where near 6 cocktails. Unless you are Everet and drink all the time anyway. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" />

Just giving you crap Everet.

Pull the electrical connector off and remove the two screws. The resistor will fall right out. You will need to use a thin flat blade screw driver to slightly bend the retaining pins so you can remove the black plastic housing. Look at both sides of the heat sink and you'll probably notice the ones that have come off the electrical pads. Just heat them up with a soldering iron to reflow the solder and put it all back together.

Use a Philips screw driver to bend the pins back to hold the plastic housing in place.
