the one you had was pointy metal pintle (the tip that fits inside the throttle body) and the junkyard one was plasic pintle?

what was the slight difference?

If so, then you found a problem.
As far as I know, only the pointy metal pintle will work, You have to take the electricals off the good one(plastic) and put them on the original (pointy metal).

True, but I think the big problem was the JY one had a blown coil as well.

Quote
When I tested the ohms on the 'new' one it was way different than mine. Don't know what that means, I do know that the 'new' one came out of a different year than mine (don't remember what year though)
The resistance on the 'new' 1-2=76 2-3=34 1-3=105
The second row seems normal 4-5=33 5-6=33 4-6=62

Looks like the 1-2 coil is blown and the 4-5 and 5-6 coils are at the tolerance limit. According to the FSM, resistance betwen 1-2, 2-3, 4-5, 5-6 should all be within 28-33 ohms for the original coil. I think the newer ones (like those sold by dsmisc.com) have coil resistances nearer to 40 ohms. 76 is way out though. He could un-solder some of the good coils from the JY one and solder them in to the old one, but I think that's perhaps a stop-gap solution based on the age and condition of the coils.
