Drop your speed, and shift later. I just, for the last tank, started doing this on my '99 XJ, and I went from an average of 20.8 MPG, to 22.2 MPG, granted this was just one tank, at 22.2, so I still will be continuing to try it and see how I do.

For the most part I have been shifting before 2200 RPM and keeping the jeep in as high of a gear as I can, and keep as little throttle in it as possible (As Jim puts it, driving like an old lady.), and I dropped my speed on the highway from 75 to 70 MPH. Yeah the speed limit is only 65 but everyone speeds here.
