I have an ongoing problem with the electronic controlled transmission and am pulling out what's left of my hair. My trans will not shift unless it's done manually. D=OD, 2=3 and L=1. I'm relying mainly on information contained in the 93 Factory Service Manual mentioned repeatedly in this forum. Apparently changes were made in the wiring between 89 and 90. The FSM calls for a check of voltage between Tt and E1 of the diagnostic port but the 89 port has no Tt. Can anyone offer advise or point me in the direction of good information on the 89 wiring.. Thanks All

I have an 88 FSM (truck and 4runner) that has auto trans sections (A43 and A340H). Shoot me an email and I can email the pdf files to you. If you don't have either of these automatics, I can't help. Let me know. fa22trainer@yahoo.com)

Joe, Yahoo says the file is too big and I should consider a new career. Anyway, I found the link to where I got my 88 FSM. It is in a list of FSMs at this location. Just scroll down and read through the list of vehicles. The entire FSM is about 82MB and as soon as you click the link for your vehicle, it automatically starts downloading. Sorry I couldn't email it.

Might be similar to the engine computer diagnostics port, where in the laster models there were multiple test connections and you used TE1 and E1 to jump the ECU to read the codes, while in the early models, there were only 2 pins in the plug and they were called T and E1: - http://www.4crawler.com/4x4/CheapTricks/index.shtml#TimingCheckConnector

From my 88 FSM: "In the event of a simultaneous malfunction of both No. 1 and No. 2 speed sensors, no diagnostic code will appear and the fail-safe system will not function. However, when driving in the D range, the transmission will not up-shift from first gear, regardless of vehicle speed."
