Hey Jerry, I put the gear (17 tooth) in the Trooper, but the speedometer got worse. With the original gear (16 tooth), 60 mph is was really 66 mph according to the gps. Now, with the new gear (17 tooth), 60 is really 71 mph (gps). Should I go with a 15 or 14 tooth gear? What do you recommend and what would that part # be?

Also, my trooper is smoking more at idle and as well as normal driving than it should. At times, it's like a mosquito sprayer... I had the injectors rebuilt and adjusted the valves. What else could it be and how do I fix it???

Many thanks, Dana

OK I THINK WHAT YOU HAVE IS THE PART YEAR CHANGE LATE 86 WHEN THEY CHANGED THE DRIVEN GEAR TO A 17 TOOTH AND ON SOME OF THEM THE DRIVE GEAR WAS A 5 TOOTH AND THE LATER ONES HAD THE 6 TOOTH DRIVE GEAR , AND YOU APPARENTLY HAVE THE 5 TOOTH DRIVE GEAR , AND NEED THE 6 TOOTH , TO MATCH THE 17 TOOTH , THERE ARE NO GEARS WITH A 15 TOOTH COUNT , AND TO CHANGE THE DRIVE GEAR YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE REAR HOUSING FROM THE TRANS TO GET TO IT , I MAY HAVE THE 6 TOOTH DRIVE GEAR , YOU ARE WELCOME TO IT , BUT IT IS A GOOD BIT OF WORK TO GET TO TO CHANGE JERRY
