Bad news- when I started up my 95SR this morning, it started vibrating terribly. Didn't do that when I parked it. I fluttered the throttle and it stayed nasty- making bad noises, but not so bad that I didn't stupidly drive it to work 7 miles away. I think one or more cylinders was not making power, I could hear the exhaust missing. It has been making a ticking noise for a long time which seemed to be louder the past few days. It took a lot of pedal to get up to any speed and I drove with my hazards on for a while, under 45.

I popped the hood halfway there to see if maybe one of the pistons was sticking out of the intake plenum or something and there was a burning smell- not intense, but not faint either. Didn't smell like gas or oil, or anything specifically.

It sounded bad, though I didn't hear any discernable knocking, scraping, or mechanical noise other than the same ticking noise. As far as I know, this is an interference engine so if a valve or valve spring broke, I should have been hearing from serious mechanical noise- would it even have kept running? The engine was rebuilt 61k miles ago and has 207k miles on it total.

Here are some things that I'm thinking:

EFI module
Spark plugs
Ignition wires
Broken valve spring(s)

Help! I really need to be able to get to work. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
