FWIW, I lurk car-part.com for "cost friendly" upgrades.

On my truck, which had 4cyl 4.10's, I upgraded to 2 6cyl diffs with 4.88's, entire diffs, plug-n-play for $150 each.

I then bought a diff from an 88 Supra for $75. Disassembled that to put the LSD Posi in the rear diff. The cheezy LockRite locker for the front diff was the most expensive part, for $189, (at that time, cost more now I guess).

The only reason why I converted to cross-over steering was because I bought a used IFS steering box for $20.

Never know what you'll find over there.
