6 lb 13 oz is a good healthy weight, so I'm guessing she wasn't premature, which makes it less likely the lung problem is surfactant related. It's not uncommon for even full-term newborns to have tachypnea- excess fluid in their lungs that either didn't get aspirated out or is just a bit slow to reabsorb. The docs usually pick this up within an hour or two after birth because the baby is breathing faster/harder than normal and the skin may look a bit blue. Sometimes they need to go to the NICU to be put in a hood to keep their oxygen levels up. But it usually clears up in 2-3 days with no lasting effects. Hopefully it's something relatively minor like this, although I'd probably be freaking out if it was my kid! Hang in there man.

Congrats buddy!
I know everything will work out just fine. Spend EVERY MINUTE YOU CAN WITH HER IN NICU. She knows you're there and will recover better/faster. Been there- done that!
Get some rest, and kisses for everyone!
