Well...Long story short...I hydro-locked my truck on Saturday. I don't think I will repair it this time. I've started to disassemble the motor to pull off the head to see what kind of damage there is. Upon taking some of the intake off..I spotted metal chunks/shavings in the intake Tube(don't have the head off yet). So I'm thinking that something REALLY bad went down and it's just not a bent valve or two. There is no compression in #3&4. (I waded up some paper towel and put them in the spark plug holes and only #1&2 popped out, 3&4 never moved).

So the Questions:

Is there enough people out there that need parts off of my truck to scrap it?
Is it worth Scrapping or should I just try and sell as is?

The body is in great shape. There are 2 cancer spots starting to develop. One is on the hood (1/2 dollar coin), the other is on the driver side door (Quarter). The only thing that I know for sure is worthless are the bumpers. They are rusted up really bad.

Things it's got that's not normal:
Blackmagic fan
msd wires
k&n
EB RV head-don't know the condition yet.
Keith Black Pistons-don't know the condition yet.
When I rebuilt the motor I bored it over .10
ARP head studs (less than 700 mi)
Thorley Header.
31's with American Racing crome wheels-I think
5 speed.

I'm trying to get ideas if there is interest in this thing or not. I'm going to finish taking the head off to see the final damages before I totally make up my mind in what I want to do.

Trucks current location is Arvada, CO

Just to confirm that this is a 4Runner, not a truck...

If it is a truck by any chance, a friend of mine would dearly love the bed, so dibs on it for him.

I agree. I'm hopping that's all I did. I don't know if I bent a rod or not either. The oil was milky and really nasty so we didn't run it other than to see if it would run. The antifreeze didn't look bad at all.

Though, I've never seen metal chunks in the intake (the straight part that connects to the head) after a blown head gasket. I did suck up A LOT of water and at ~3k. Just being Stupid.

Also To answer Red_Chili, it is the 4-runner list in my Sig.

Then again he could have bent/broken the rods, tweaked the crank, broken some pistons, or poked a hole in a cylinder or two with a broken rod. You will never know until you tear it apart.

ever so optomistic <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" /> but if it is worst case scenario, i'd be interested in the wheels, tires and header...

If the block is beyond rebuilding, I would just pick up a used 22r/e and replace the bad engine. You should be able to find an engine for under $500, especially if you aren't in a hurry. With it running you will get a lot more for it even after buying an engine for it than you will by parting it out. Figure the following as an average price break down
wheels and tires about $250-300
doors maybe $100/pr
windshield about $50
IFS steering box about $125
IFS rear axle about $150
Runner Top maybe $300
fenders about $50/pair
Runner body maybe $500
Dealing with the headache of parting out a rig, or removal of what is left $-?
Rig as is maybe $1000
Running at least $2500

Not sure where you are located in regards to these
$350 Milliken $500 Hudson

Well...There happens to be a guy at my wife's work who might be interested in the whole truck. I haven't got the head off yet to inspect the damages yet, and plan to do so tomorrow. I was curious how much do you think it's worth. I'm looking at two situations.

1) Head gasket is toast and needs redone.
2) Pull the head and find out that there is a hole in the side of the block, which I'm expecting.

So if you guy's could give me a ball park price on the two situations, that would be great.

Here are some rebuild photos to compare with. Other photos in the 2007 dune trip album.

Thanks for any advice.

It is not going to be worth very much unless you make it run. If it needs a headgasket, put it back together and make it run. If it needs a block, find a used engine and put it in.

If you don't make it run, it isn't likely worth much. $500? if the rest is in good shape.

As an example, I bought a rust bucket Jeep last year for $100. Hadn't run in years and part of the clutch linkage missing. Fixed the clutch linkage and got it started. Just sold it for $700.

Good luck.
