 South Virginia, North Carolina: Good for Finding a Rust-Free Old Toyota?

I have a trip coming up this summer that will take me to Virginia. I'd like to look for a nice rust-free second generation, xtra-cab 4x4, while I'm in the area. In the past I've seen some rusty trucks in that area, but of course who knows where they spent their earlier lives. Could a truck that spent it's years in the Richmond,VA, Raliegh,NC, Charlotte, NC areas have a body comparable with a California or Arizona? Any experts from those areas chime right in! -- Matt

Yes, it is very possible. Better luck if in the middle of the state (Greensboro, Raleigh, Charlotte (Although Charlotte is pretty far south if oyu are just coming to VA). Check out our local forum here: http://www.nc4x4.comVERY active, and the For Sale section has a really high turnover rate. Clean Yotas come up a lot. And FWIW, if you're in the winston-Salem area before early/mid July, stop by for a <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

One has to do what one has to do! I've been in Charlotte before and liked the area so it wouldn't be too far if necessary, but I'd start looking up by Richmond for sure. Better take a trip to CA or AZ. Trucks rust pretty bad here in VA. Just replaced my tailgate. It was about to fall off due to rust. I guess Richmond area might be better due to less snow/ice and salting of the roads. Anywhere east of Richmond and your getting closer to the ocean, so I guess Richmond area is probably your best bet.
