Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey guys the 22re journey continues...i have a weird sound coming from what seems like the top end. It sounds like a bunch of little marbles bouncing around in the oil pan or something and it happens at higher rpms. I've heard perhaps a broken valve spring. I took off the valve cover and everything looks good. Any ideas? Thanks alot.

How do the timing chain guides look? Quick compression check wouldn't hurt. Also check for an exhaust leak; tends to amplify engine noise.

$10 says the timing chain guides are shot, and the chain is rubbing against the cover.

negative on the guides, i checked them and they look as good as new. The timing chain has only 20000 kms on it.

Sounds like pinging to me. Checked the timing recently?
