Dont replace all that stuff just yet. Throwing parts is expensive and stupid.

First thing i'd check is timing. It could be off a few degrees. Make sure you jumper the correct pins on the diagnostic connector.

Also check for vacuum leaks. Then a compression check. Fuel and oil pressure checks.


x2. just throwing in parts that "might" happen to fix the problem is a great way to waste your money. do the proper tests to determine exactly what you need. if what im reading is correct, you were seeing a darker colored smoke, maybe close to black. if thats true, then it sounds like it's running rich, or putting in to much fuel.
