Well, I ordered my tires yesterday at Costco, BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's 33x10.5x15's, they should be in early next week. Since the stock wheel is only a 15x7, I couldn't bring myself to ordering 33x12.5's...didn't seem like the safe thing to do.

So I walk into Costco and the guy asks me what type of truck - '98 full size Montero, how much lift - 2.75" suspension lift - and he proceeds to call up his manager who tells me that they will not go more than 3% over stock or the tire size already on the truck. Well, 33's are 10% larger than stock.

I am not liking this turn of events. I explain to him that many other Montero owners are running 33's with no issues. He starts talking about liablity, ABS systems not being designed for larger tires, and such.

So finally I work out a compromise with him. He will mount the tires on my rims, but I will have to install them in the parking lot so he doesn't have any liablity. Kind of a joke, but they are the cheapest and I had a $60 off coupon, so I guess I can't complain too much. I am paying $675 plus tax for a set of 5.

They are putting Nitrogen in the tires at 26 psi (unless I tell them differently). Will I have any issues if I lower them down to go offroad, then put regular air back in to fill them up? I am assuming not, but wanted to make sure. Thanks.
