I am toying with an idea.

Can you gurus help me with the following:

1. Does the Gen2 LWB body fit straight onto the Gen1's LWB chassis ?

2. Do the seats and door panels from Gen1 LWB fit to the Gen2 LWB?
(bouncy seats' frames?)

Gerhard

No, they are not the same wheelbase, the gen 2 is slightly longer.

Door panels are different. Not sure about the seat frame.

Why do you want to do the swap? Bad motor? Bad frame? Wreck?

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Seat frames are different. Gen II is wider than a Gen I, too.

Gen II seat base is also fitted to the floor, which isn't flat like a Gen I.

Sparkem,

No, I can get a good Gen2 body with a bad engine, and thought I would swop over to my chassis & drive train.

Since the Gen1 was never sold here, body parts are a problem, but not so for Gen2 onwards.

Thanks for all the replies, which leads me to believe my idea is a non-starter.

Gen I body parts aren't the problem, it's just the shipping price to get them to you. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

What about swapping your engine into the Gen II?

That is a lot of work! I had to do quite a bit of manufacturing on mountings, pipe work and drive shafts to make the Di-D fit in the Gen1.

It is possible, but I can't gather the enthusiasm to go through it again!
